February 2017

We are happy to announce that Dr. Libing Zhang from Professor Bin Yang’s research team has made it through the screening round and been invited to present at the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge!

This year 29 teams applied and 22 have been chosen, based on input from our screening round judges, to advance to the Challenge on March 30, 2017.

Teams pitch to 100+ judges from the Seattle community who have expertise in cleantech, entrepreneurs, and investors. The teams then demo their prototypes and simulations in a trade show format, with the judges moving around the room and asking questions. At the end of the afternoon, the judges score the teams, results are tallied, and the winners are announced. The goal of the Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge is to spark new ideas that have the potential for impact.

The Alaska Airlines Environmental Innovation Challenge was founded in 2009 and is the creation of the Buerk Center for Entrepreneurship in the Foster School of Business, in partnership with the University of Washington’s College of Engineering, College of the Environment, Clean Energy Institute, College of Built Environments, and the Department of Biology.
