Biological Systems Engineering Participates in 2025 ASABE Annual International Meeting
This year, the ASABE joined Canadian Society for Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (CSABE), to organize Annual International Meeting (AIM) in Toronto, Canada on 13-16 July 2025. Several graduate students participated and presented their work in this event. In addition to active participation in several leadership roles, BSE faculty members and students made 11 oral and 1 poster presentations in different technical sessions within diverse communities. Drs. Joan Wu, Kirti Rajagopalan, and Sindhuja Sankaran represented WSU at the AIM. Ariel Ramos, Bhupinderjeet Singh, Md. Redwan Khan, Srikanth Venkata Gorthi, Supriya Savalkar, and Teshan Habarakada Liyanage received travel awards from the department to participate at the ASABE AIM. Drs. Rajagopalan and Sankaran also represented the department in the ASABE Career Fair.
We are proud of the award recipients Srikanth Gorthi, Dr. Eric Mozzanini, Dr. Lav Khot, Dattatray Bhalekar, Dr. Ranjan Sapkota and Dr. Worasit Sangjan for being recognized at the ASABE AIM. Srikanth Gorthi (major advisor: Dr. Lav Khot) received second place in the 2025 Boyd-Scott Graduate Research Award, PhD category. Srikanth received this recognition for his PhD work “FrostNet: Localized Spatiotemporal Sensing Network for Effective Spring Frost Management in Fruit Crops”. Dr. Eric Mozzanini (visiting PhD student at WSU IAREC, originally from University of Torino, Italy), Dattatray Bhalekar, Dr. Lav Khot, and co-authors received Superior Paper Award. This award is given annually to the top 5% of papers published across ASABE journals, selected for their scientific quality, originality, clarity, and overall contribution to the field. This article “Cleaning Performance Evaluation of Pneumatic Spray Delivery Based Solid Set Canopy Delivery System” was published in the Journal of the ASABE (Vol. 67, No. 4: 1049 1063). Dr. Ranjan Sapkota and Dr. Worasit Sangjan received ‘Outstanding Reviewers’ award. The reviewer recognition program developed by the ASABE Journal Editorial Board honors outstanding reviewers each year. We congratulate the award recipients and appreciate all graduate students, alumni, and faculty members for their participation and presence at 2025 ASABE AIM.
